5 Frames with a Nikon F301 – by Ed Worthington

By Ed Worthington

Hello again, I have returned with another 5 frames from another camera in my arsenal, this time I introduce you to the Nikon F301.

Probably the most amateur of the SLR’s Nikon released in the mid 80’s and the extreme baby brother of the much more famous F3 (depending on where you are in the world though it may be called the N2000). It is relatively small for a camera with a motorized film advance, oh yes no winding on here, and has a fabulously 1980’s retro shutter and advance sound when you fire it, in fact I often drive around in my Lamborghini wearing my pastel suit and fighting crime while carrying this on me.

Anyway this was cheap, very cheap (body only, shh we’ll not mention the fact I already owned the more pricey 28mm lens I use with it) and for the price was a bargain. Especially when you consider that Nikon F mount glass is everywhere and all will fit onto it, well almost all. I have pretty much only shot it on aperture priority for the simple fact that its light meter is quite excellent for my purposes and did I already mention how cool it makes me feel? Anyways here’s a few images taken with it.

YES! That’ll be Camera Centre, the display case in the middle of the shop has hundreds of film camera’s in it and they also have a display of the owners’ Leica collection too. My favourite shop in the City, I pop in most days just to drool over what I can’t afford ????
