Negative Supply is holding a sale for their premium line during June. Running now until June 30th, premium bundles and pro products will be reduced, some for the first time. If you have had your eye on Negative Supply’s kit but haven’t been able to justify the price tag, perhaps this event will bring it a little closer to the budget.
DSLR or camera scanning has become a popular way to digitize negatives thanks to the quick pace it sets compared to slower traditional scanners such as flatbeds or compact options like the Plustek Opticfilm series. While the term “DSLR scanning” is commonly used, a DSLR is not essential and scanning can be completed with many modern digital cameras (including APS-C and Micro Four-Thirds) that can be paired with a macro lens. The Negative Supply team sees this method of scanning as the way forward.
“We believe camera scanning is the way of the future and we want to give everyone the option to make this part of their workflow.” – Negative Supply
The company based in Ventura County, California sells individual pieces or bundles to complete a robust home camera scanning setup. Everything is designed and manufactured in-house by a small team.
One of their most expensive offerings, the Premium Curated Kit for 35mm and 120 Film Scanning is reduced to $1,849 from $2,199. This kit includes the following: Pro Mount MK2 with the anti-static brush and 35/120 adapter plates, Light Source Mini – 97 CRI, Pro Film Carrier 35, Film Carrier 120, Pro Riser MK3, Film Carrier 120 Full Border Scanning Guide, Pro Film Carrier 35 Full Border Scanning Cassette, and the Pro Film Carrier Hood Combo.
The Pro Riser MK3 is one of Negative Supply’s most popular products and is down from $699 to $599 as a standalone order. This is still an investment but the company assures this is the “one copy stand to rule them all.”
“At $100 off, this class-leading copy stand is sure to be the centerpiece of your scanning set-up. The Pro Riser MK3 is capable of supporting the heaviest camera setups and can up to 4×5 film with a 105mm full frame equivalent lens and even 8×10 with a 50mm equivalent lens!” – Negative Supply on Instagram
