New lens releases are flying out this way and that, so today we have Pergear with an upgraded 60mm F2.8 II Ultra-Macro Lens which allows you to get within 19.1cm of subjects. The second generation of this lens features 2X magnification with focus aides and full-frame coverage to shoot without vignetting.
The 60mm F2.8 II has 10 elements in 7 groups which include three highly refractive index elements to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations for maximum sharpness. Manual focus is aided by distance and depth of field scales for precision. The de-clicked aperture ring helps to operate silently for close-range shooting. A multi-layered coating has been applied to individual lens elements to reduce flare and ghosting in strong lighting conditions.
Pergear promises macro shooting without vignetting and even suggests the lens can be used for other types of photography like portraits or general use.
A review of this lens has been published by Christopher Frost on Youtube. While Pergear did send Christopher the lens, he mentions the review is independent.
Robin Wong also published a review of the upgraded lens on Youtube which you can watch below. Pergear also sent Robin the lens but he maintains they have no influence on his conclusions.
At the time of writing, the lens is available for pre-order but will begin shipping on August 21, 2023. Mounts available include Nikon Z, Canon RF, Sony E, Fuji X, M4/3, and L Mount.
It retails for £159 but there is a 15% off coupon available until the 12th of August. Find it on Pergear’s shop here.

On Micro-Four-Thirds would this focal length with macro work well for scanning 35mm (and larger) negatives?
Thanks Molly!
