The new Rollei 35AF arrived last week Friday. I have already managed to get through 6 rolls of film and I am currently working on the 7th. So far so good. For a long winded take on it I point you to my initial review. The short version: I can forgive nearly any ill if AF, exposure, and IQ are on point.
And this camera proves quite capable at all three. Any demerits have more to do with teething issues due to it being a newly created thing. But as someone with 4 years of drafting in HS and an Industrial Engineer degree who started their career as a CAD Specialist/Engineer/Programmer at GE Steam Turbine Engineering many, many years ago perhaps I am overly forgiving. Rather than being bothered by the high effort rewinding and fiddly film cover I am too busy being stunned that it works as well as it does. Especially given that it is largely the fruit of one man’s efforts, MINT founder Gary Ho. Your mileage may vary. Anyway. The images.
Chose Cinestill 800T (avoiding night time gas stations as much as possible) for a quick walk around a local “downtown” area (Quotes courtesy of a former NYC resident’s snobbery admittedly. Unwarranted perhaps but I am incapable of saying it without quotes, typed or air.). Developed with Cinestill CS41. Teamed with LiDAR AF’s ability to focus in the dark it proved to be a wonderful combination. Here are 5 images from the roll (more from the roll here.). Please note the line through some was due to the calibration range of the scanner needing to be cleaned. After I saw this and cleaned it I did not bother rescanning the roll.
That about wraps things up. The Rollei 35AF did a fine job with every roll so far.
Happy capturing.

I shoot a variety of new and old digital and film cameras. Industrial Engineer by education, IT is my vocation, and I really enjoy using, testing, and writing about cameras. All three of the latter are very therapeutic exercises for me. If you are so inclined my blog address is ewoodsphoto.com and I can be found on Threads and Instagram. All the best to you.

Google "Hands On Film Midnight 1600 ISO" for a better low-light film from a company that deserves your business.

The ability of focusing on low light is actually really interesting and something that sets it apart - I’m don’t think I now of any camera, film or digital, that would be as good?

I’ve been tempted into getting one as zone focussing isn’t for everyone.
Having said that I’ve been reading some the Leica M typ 240 and am severely tempted to get one of these instead.
Must resist.
