7Artisans has a new 9mm F5.6 aspherical full-frame lens out for Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and L-Mount shooters. The lens creates dramatic fields of view with its non-fisheye ultra-wide angle perspective of 132° and aspherical optical design that nearly eliminates distortion.
This is a manual focus lens comprising of 16 elements in 12 groups including 2 aspherical and 2 ED elements. By including the aspherical elements, the lens reduces distortion that 7Artisans describes as “approximate zero distortion”.
The minimum focus distance is set to 20 centimeters for folks who like to get close up to their subjects. The 5-blade aperture runs from F5.6 to F22. 7Artisans promises perfect 10-point sun stars at the higher end of the aperture range.
Weighing 463g, it’s a moderately sized lens that wouldn’t be too heavy for long walkabouts but maintains a premium feel with its all-metal build.
7Artisans mentions this lens is aimed at video and content creators, but can also be applied to other photographic genres like astrophotography and even creative portraiture.
The retail price is set for USD 479, CAD 649, GBP 459, AUD 749, or EUR 539. For more information about the lens, click here to head over to 7Artisan’s webpage.
The company based in Shenzhen, China was formed when a group of camera enthusiasts sat down together for a dinner over the summer of 2015. At this dinner party, the shared idea of creating high quality original lenses was formed and by the time the group had gone through the process to make this a reality, only seven members remained, seven artisans. 7Artisans focuses on creating quality lenses for photographers of all shapes and sizes, and mounts.
