Photography & Project Work

By Hamish Gill

Looking for some inspiration, or just want to flick through the project work and photos?

In this section you will find posts that are a little more about photography than they are anything else. There is a lot of content here, and to a lesser or greater degree, it is displayed in no particular order.

My intention here is, at least to an extent, to encourage readers to get a little lost on this content. I’d encourage you to find something that sounds interesting, have a read, and then when you get the the bottom of the article, follow the tag links at the bottom of the article and see where you end up.

There are sometimes links to more articles featuring the genre of photography, and some that will take you to photos taken with the same camera, lens or film. Whichever direction you go, if you do get lost, you can always find your way back to this page and start again.

Either way, I hope you find something you like.

If you would like to submit your project or a series of photos to 35mmc, you can find out more about how to write for 35mmc here

Photos & Projects

Articles here are submitted as series of images or representative of parts of authors’ project work.

5 Frames with

This is a series of articles that tell short stories of 5 frames taken with a camera, lens or film – sometimes all three.

One Shot Stories

A series that tells the story of single images. That story can be about a bit of kit, the photo, or something else altogether.

Found Photos

Posts that tell the story of photos and negatives found in cameras, attics and flea markets. Found the next Vivian Maier, this is the place to tell the world… It’s also the place to tell the world about that box of your Grandad’s negs you found in a shoebox in his wardrobe.

The Whole Roll

A series of articles that show entire rolls of film; every image, warts and all. Authors who submit these articles often talk through the roll, where/why it was taken etc.

The Travelling Yashica

A project that started in the early days of 35mmc when I sent a Yashica T5 travelling around the world. You can find the posts from the people who got to use the camera here. Since then other cameras have been sent traveling, you can find stories of their travels here:

About The Author

By Hamish Gill
I started taking photos at the age of 9. Since then I've taken photos for a hobby, sold cameras for a living, and for a little more than decade I've been a professional photographer and, of course, weekly contributor to 35mmc.
