If you’re an Analogue Wonderland customer you are likely to have seen something in your checkout on their website in the last six months with the option to donate to ‘The Future of Film Photography’ – sounds mysterious and grand, and the truth is, it is. It has the potential to be very impactful here in the UK and perhaps be the genesis of many successful community analogue projects.
Donations made were added to a pot called the “UK Film Photography Community Fund” – as described by Analogue Wonderland:
“The Fund is for people, companies and projects who require one-off investment to advance plans that will benefit the wider UK film photography community. This might be through providing new services, teaching skills to film photographers (new or experienced), bringing a new product to market, or funding equipment for a group class or demonstration.”
This is all summed up in greater detail with examples of what does and doesn’t fit the criteria on Analogue Wonderland’s website here where you will also find a link to apply! The funds will be allocated to those chosen who fit the criteria best of ‘benefitting the wider UK film photography community’. Each project can be funded with a minimum of £250.
If you think this might apply to you but you’re not quite ready with a pitch and plan. The fund is going to be on a six monthly cycle. Applications will be open again in July and then January 2022 and so on…
Additionally, if you are reading and thinking that it doesn’t apply to you, please let people know – it might just land on the lap of someone who could bring something great to the world of film photography!
Kudos to the AW team. Obviously, a great deal of credit is due to those who donated too. I look forward to seeing the fruits of the project.
More details on the fund, a link to the application form and a video explaining it all by Paul from AW can be found here
