The raw encounter
I learned about The Travelling Yashica project 2 years back when I searched the internet about analog photography. I was hooked at once and got on the list, somewhere far out in the future. Now I’ve had my time with the camera, and this is my humble contribution. Thanks to Hamish for his creative idea and his courage to ship the camera around the world to a bunch of photographers like me.
A point and shoot camera. One week in my possession. Loaded with a roll of Tri-X 400. The “story line” came easily to me: It had to be a raw encounter and a very compact visual story telling from my everyday life. No test shots. No poses for the camera. No fiddling with the camera functionalities. Just a raw encounter. As honest as possible.
So. Welcome to Denmark. Welcome to the everyday life of a 45-year old man, father, husband, office worker, amateur photographer etc. These are the extracts of the raw encounter between The Travelling Yashica and the highly everyday moments it was exposed to.
“Stranded”
“Window light”
“Done”
