In the first warm light of a beautiful and cloudless October morning, the place lies gently nestled at the exit of the sewer, on a moraine ridge and looks east with the harbor opening. The rows of houses facing the morning sun and the harbor shimmer in the pure colors of the air washed by last night’s rain. Window surfaces cast their reflections into the harbor basin and the sewerage system. The sun’s disk has just left the haze of the fields. Doors slam in the alleys, voices shout final messages to each other. Feet sometimes clatter when running. Children in flowing skirts and trousers go to school.
A dozen seagulls in their favorite places and watch the goings-on with boredom. Their best time will come when the ships come in with the catch and then something has to be stolen. Only at the church tower, which is occupied by a horde of jackdaws, is there no seagull. The strictest territorial separation applies. Jackdaws circle the church tower and church. Their mocking cries are the answer to the hustle and bustle on the streets. After the initial noise has died down, some house tigers sneak through their territory and sit in preferred places in the morning sun. Women open shutters and windows to ventilate the bedroom and hallway.
Now the day has dawned and can become what it should become in the hearts of everyone. A beautiful last sunny day without wind in the Krummhörn. The first high feather clouds are approaching from the northwest and undoubtedly herald the end of Greetsiel on the North Sea in East Frisia in Lower Saxony. After a stormy night, a morning straight out of nature’s picture book.
My Minolta X500 with the Minolta 24mm lens and a circular polarizing filter and a Kodak color image. A lovely morning walk from the end of the year. A morning stroll for my camera and I in Greetsiel.

Good shot, you really captured the atmosphere. Myself, I am *very* fond of dappled light on facades. =)
Cheers, Lars
