Jollylook is launching its 5th Kickstarter campaign today for a new Instax film photo printer! The new Jollylook EYE has much of the same design elements as their other Instax film cameras, but instead of taking a photo, it prints from images stored on your mobile phone.
The new Jollylook EYE uses Instax mini film to mechanically print photos from a smartphone. Simply bring up a photo on your phone, place the EYE on top and engage the shutter release to expose the film. Afterwards, the manual crank level on the EYE will push the film out of the camera. Then, it’s a waiting game of a minute or two before an image starts to appear, et voilà! Fujifilm Instax film is the most consistent, affordable, and available instant film on the market today so there’s no worry of not being able to find it or have room for it in the budget.
“Why swipe when you can touch a memory? I’m convinced that one photo printed today beats a thousand stored digitally for someday. In a world filled with digital distractions, we often forget the joy of holding a real photograph, feeling the texture, and reliving those precious memories.” – Evgeniy Ivanov, the founder of Jollylook
The Kickstarter campaign will last for 7 days only with the super early bird price available for the first 48 hours. Back the project in the first two days and receive the price of $49 per EYE. After that, the early bird is $54 and the regular price is $59. There are two bulk options, a box of 6 for $267 or a box of 24 for $900.
The EYE is slightly larger than an iPhone Plus box and weighs 435g. It is mechanical and does not need batteries or a charter to operate. Jollylook has used the same eco-friendly materials they are known for, a natural biodegradable wood fibre material. The printer can even work with double exposures to create unique images from two photos.
Jollylook has a good track record on Kickstarter, the EYE being their 5th campaign following previously successful ones. The estimated shipping timeline for this one is February to March 2024. Shipping charges range per country so check out the information in the campaign for your country.
The team used to operate out of Irpin, Ukraine, but was forced to leave and rebuild from scratch in Zvolen, Slovakia. Despite the nightmare of this situation, they have continued to move the company forward and create new joyful products for the film community.
