My photography journey started aged 8, when my dad bought a new 35mm camera and gave me his old 120 film Kodak Brownie. I got one film each year at holiday time and i was soon hooked. After i left school I bought a 35mm Kodak rangefinder and then progressed to a Praktica SLR, then a Cosina with TTL metering and then(1978) a Fujica ST901, still my favourite camera to use. After a few years(1985) the meter failed so I bought an Olympus OM2N and that (along with a Mamiya 220 TLR) was my weapon of choice until i went digital in 2012 with a Panasonic G2 and later GH2(the video focused version). In 2016 i swapped back to Olympus and after a short spell with an EM5 I've settled on an EM1ii for the last 7 years. Meantime nostalgia set me looking at film again and around that time(2021) a friend offered me his dad's old Yashica D TLR. The mirror was misaligned and the seals needed replacing and the case was falling apart. But a month later I had her up and running and I've been using it alongside my Olympus ever since. I'm currentluy contemplating a "new" 35mm camera too, either an Olympus OM1 or Fuji ST601/701 but it may not come to anything!... I'm not a professional photographer but have made some money over the years doing family portraits and illustrating walking books. But mostly I worked in IT as a Software Engineer and Enterprise Architect. I'm now retired and indulging my many hobbies.
